1 Month Loc UPDATE!

Chello!

As I mentioned in my post from 5 days ago, I just reached my one month nappiversary.  On the day of, I took this picture:

As you can see, I was clearly in need of a re-twist.

Well as of today my beautiful sprouts have been re-twisted!  I see lots of growth already and can't wait for more.  Here are my comparison photos from Day 1 to Month 1 Re-twist:

Yay!  Hooray for healthy hair and growth!!!

TIDDIES.

Morning!

So this post came to me while I was standing in the bathroom mirror in a wife-beat and sleeping shorts.

TODAY,  I love my boobs.  I noticed my babies, however large, were sitting kinda nicely through my tee!  I lifted my tank to get a better look, not that I'd forgotten what they looked like and yup, TODAY I love my boobs.

Yes, they're big and, on many days, they get on my nerves.  They get in the way.  They're hot.  They're heavy.  I wish they were smaller and sometimes I even wish they looked like other tiddies I've seen.

Some days I consider nipple-piercing, but yeah fcukin right.  That's shit's crazy. But anyway, it's like a love-hate relationship between me and my boobs.  Oh, but TODAY, I love these bxtches.

Don't get it twisted, though, no matter how I feel about my boobs on any day, I keep these biddies looking nice.  My girls are stretch-mark free and I LOVE my skin tone.
They stay lotioned up and soft and on the days when I must leave the house and go out in the sweltering heat, then I cake Jean Nate' powder up under these bxtches. LOL

So yea, I keeps my boobs looking nice always, but today especially??  I LOVE MY BOOBS!!!

7 Months Naptural|1 Month Old Locs

Hello, again!

Today is my ONE MONTH Locversary and I love my sprouts unconditionally!  I have tons of new-growth and they surely need to be washed and re-twisted (which will be done here shortly), but still I love them so.  In honor of my locversary, I'll swig some rum later.  Anyway, here are the pics from my journey so far with the most recent being taken TODAY.  Ta-ta!

Well Butter My Butt and Call Me "Biscuit!"

I can't believe it, but my big ass jar of Eco-Styler Olive Oil gel has been REDEEMED!!  Once upon a time, shortly after my Big Chop in December, I had bought this gel because my sister (who is also natural) kept mentioned using it in her hair.  I remember trying to use it at least twice by slathering it into my wet hair.  What I got wasn't what I expected and the white residue it left behind, I hated.  It was official, in my opinion, that Eco-Styler was not for me.  I counted as a product loss...a big jar of wasted gel.  That is....until today!

I'm still not a hair-doer, and my #natural hair resources here in Pensacola, FL are slim at best.  What I've been doing with my natural hair for these past four months have only included puffs, plain TWA, headbands, twists (the few times that I've found time to do them) aaand that's mostly it.  I've been seeing all the lovely styles my CURLfriends on Twitter wear and wished upon a star that I could do something wonderful with my own.

Which leads me back up to today.  I broke out that damn Eco-Styler gel and just went for it.  What exactly "it" was, I wasn't sure at first.  My hair was dry-ish and compacted nappily to my head from sleeping on it.  I didn't moisten it or anything because I wasn't sure anything wonderful would come out of this spur of the moment.  I un-kinked small sections of hair and applied a nice fingerful of gel to each piece while pulling and stretching until the gel covered root to tip.  Then I let go of the section of hair and what dangled there was a bit of hair that was nicely stretched and coiled (is the best was for me to describe it.).  I kept right on until my whole head was full of ringlets.

Is there any white residue this time?  Minimal. I think me pulling the gel to the ends of each section repeatedly helped with that.  Anyway, I'm excited, y'all!!  My TWA has ringlets!

I'll post more pics later today once I make myself look like something other than "just woke up." LOL

#BLAMECRISTAL For Your Beautiful Skin!

Aspirin Mask

Honey Mask

I had never thought to try an aspirin mask before seeing a YouTube! video by Cristal "Serious" Steverson demonstrating how it's done.  When she mentioned only needing "Dollar Store" aspirin and hydrogen peroxide, I was in it to win it!  Plus, the directions that she gave were extremely simple to follow.

ACV, Honey, Hydrogen Peroxide, Cheap Aspirin.

After the aspirin mask my face felt like a baby's bum and even softer than that once I did the honey mask.  I think I'll wait until tomorrow to go over my face with the ACV, though, simply because I don't want to add something acidic to my uber soft face right now.  I'm just going to moisturize and then sleep on it!  If you've never tried an aspirin or honey mask and can stand to have beautiful skin, I suggest giving them a try; and while you're at it friends, don't forget to #BLAMECRISTAL!!

Mae's Homemade "Sweet Shine" Spritz

Mae/Natural Chica of NaturalChica.com and her FAB #naturalhair

I awoke this morning, and one of very first tweets that I came across happened to be by Shon (@happynappy2009), regarding Mae's (@naturalchica) Homemade "Sweet Shine" Spritz.  I clicked on the link in the tweet, which took me to NaturalChica.com where I found the recipe for MHSSS.  I became exited when I realized that I had all the necessary ingredients to try this recipe which called for Raw Honey, Avocodo Oil, EVOO, Liquid Vitamin E, and an Essential Oil of my choosing (all without having to leave the house).  Well her recipe actually called for Lemongrass Essential Oil, which happened to be the one that I didn't have, so I improvised with Peppermint Oil.

My Ingredients:

It took me just a few minutes to whip up Mae's natural hair recipe and I was ready to spray!

Once I finger teased my kinks to ensure even distribution of MHSSS, the first word that came to mind was "juicy!"  My #naturalhair was experiencing all them oils and that made my tresses ultra juicy. LOL  I haven't tried a b/o or a t/o, but  believe me it's on my To Do list, now that I have this stuff whipped up and ready in my spray bottle.  I don't know about you, but I like when my kinks and coils are juicy, so this recipe is FTW! in my opinion.  Thanks, Natural Chica!  Also thanks to Shon, aka HappyNappy2009 for sharing in her tweet this morning!

I happened to buy some Lemon Essential Oil and Jasmine Essential Oil today after I'd already used the Pepperment Oil, but I tell ya, I sure can't wait to try this recipe with either of my new Oils, too!

OH! And I will also have you to know, that this product felt GREAT on my skin as a moisturizer!!!!

3 Months Naptural!

I just want to say, HAPPY 3 MONTH NAPPIVERSARY to me!!! *does the wop*  In celebration, I think I'll...well, I don't really have anything planned.  As a matter of fact, today isn't really the best hair day.  So, I'll wait until I'm feeling hair-great and then take some pictures or something.  But, this is still a great milestone so geaux me!  Cocktails later. *wink*

The Verdict is IN.

Yea.  So, I mean....

Okay, let me start this way; Because the curiosity of the "newness," otherwise known as the Tangle Teezer, had haunted me so, of course I wanted it to be great!  Why would I want it to suck?  Especially when I'd spent MY ten dollars on it!  So anyway, I tried the newness on my dry #natural hair.  I've heard so many say "it glided like butter."  Well, I already should've known better because I got the strongest 4C hair ever, but I tried it dry.  I wouldn't say it glided, as it did catch a couple-a them 4C kinks along the way. But no biggie, cause I still had to try it wet.

During showertime, I included this newness in my co-washing routine.  I used my favorite conditioner (so far), Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner, gathered a small chunk of hair and used the Tangle Teezer.  It did kind of slide on through.  Maybe one or two snags, but that's not all bad.

This is what the Teezer looked like post co-wash (see my tight ass coils?):

Ok, so I said all of THAT to say this:  It's usable.  Meaning, I paid for it, so it's going to be used one way or the other, however the Tangle Teezer newness didn't necessarily blow my skirt up.  The End.

Another One Bites The Dust...

Yes.  The intrigue of the Tangle Teezer finally got me.  I was not going to be satisfied unless I tried it myself.  So, to the Sally's I went... the same Sally's that didn't have it a few weeks ago.  I couldn't make this up, but the guy working at the front Sally's counter was a big dude and had at least four gold teeth across the top of his mouth.  On the outside, I was un-fazed, but on the INSIDE, I was sure shocked to see him.  I politely asked, "are you familiar with all your products here?"  "Yes ma'am," was his answer.  I asked him where I could find a Tangle Teezer.

*long story longer*

After about 2 trips up and down the aisles and him running to go ring out another customer, he finally had the revelation that he HAD remembered seeing something about a "Tangle Teezer." Honey, he sashayed (I KNOW,  iDIED!) to the back of the store and into the back room.  I heard him saying something about "different colors" and then out he walked, holding a black, glitter purple, and hot pink Tangle Teezer, indeed.  You know I went with hot pink, child.  So let's speed up to NOW.....

Right now I'm watching Due Date, but soon after I will try this damn Tangle Teezer once and for all.  Then I'll come back with an update!  Ta-ta for now.

A Funny Recommendation and GREAT Investment!

Ladiiiiieees!

So I just want to share with you all a product that I was introduced to a couple years ago, that I simply cannot live without.  I know they sell it in bodegas in New York, but since I live nowhere near NY, I order mine online from BeautyofNewYork.com.  It's called Lemisol.

Simply put, Lemisol is a tic-tac for your ladybits.  Bwahaha!  Seriously, though.  I'm very much into my own feminine hygiene, and if you are too, I think it would be worth it for you to give her a go.  Not to mention, the price is super reasonable!  You can get a 4oz bottle for $3.99 (plus shipping), 8oz for $6.49, or a 16oz for $7.99. With this product, a little goes a very long way.  One 16oz bottle lasted me well over a year.

Directions:  When you're in the shower just apply a small amount to your hand and lather "her" up!  Within seconds you'll start to feel a cleansing, cooling sensation (which I love btw).  Then, just be sure to rinse thoroughly.  The end!  You'll be feeling oh so fresh and so clean afterward, guaranteed.  If any of you women decide to give it a try, feel free to let me know your thoughts about the product!

What's in YOUR Spray Bottle?

HAPPY 2 MONTH NAPPIVERSARY TO MEEEE!!  Ok, now that that's out of the way, I just want to share what's in MY spray bottle.  I don't know all the fabulous #naturalhair recipes, so I figure I'd just try my own.  I started with one recipe, but I'll outline that one in another blog.  What I've been using the last week or so, which I think feels nicely on my hair, includes the following:

EVOO

COCONUT OIL

JOJOBA OIL

CAYENNE *note I only used one-half of capsule*

And, good ol' WATER!!

Now, What's in YOUR Spray Bottle???

Today's Twist-Out Results

So, I twisted my hair 3 days ago and here's what it looked like this morning. Please note, that I'm still not a pro-twister LOL!

And here it is once I untwisted it, but before I did anything else to it. (I love my color!):

And finally, here is the finished product of today's twist-out. I just fluffed it up and pushed it back with a head band.  For some reason you can't see my color in these pics:

P.S. - I'm 3 days shy of my 2 MONTH NAPPIVERSARY!!! WOOP!
